I must get better with sharing exciting stuff on my blog… Well, you have to start somewhere, right?? Here are 3 very cool articles that I have something to do with :)

Check out this fabulous article, in the July 6th Issue of Women’s Wear Daily, on one of my FAVORITE clients Mariqueen Maandig Reznor and Trent Reznor release album. I did the Make-up for this photo:

Speaking of Mariqueen… I had the pleasure of working on a photo-shoot, doing the Make-up for the new band “How to Destroy Angels“, check out the article in the Wired Magazine June 2010 issue as well as read, see and listen to on the new IPAD…They are AMAZING!!!!!!!

Also, thanks to Marley Majcher and her team at The Party Goddess!, my company “Make-Up Therapy” received a shout out in an article in the Meetings and Conventions Magazine. Please see below…

Final Blowout
Jonathan Vatner
7/1/2010
After days of meetings in a faraway destination, attendees might not look their best for the final blowout gala. Immediately before that event, Marley Majcher, The Party Goddess (323-222-8376; thepartygoddess.com), recommends creating an on-site spa by bringing in local manicurists, hairstylists and makeup artists to bring glamour to bedraggled attendees; for spa services in the Los Angeles area, for example, try The Massage Express (themassageexpress.com), and for makeup, Make-Up Therapy (makeuptherapy.com).

I ABSOLUTELY adore Lauren and Blake, what an amazing couple!! I knew we’d be fast friends because not only are they wonderful, fun and what I like to call “good people”, they attended and met at my college alma mater, The University of Arizona, very cool!! Another quick mention, Lauren happens to own one of my favorite companies that I love to send gifts from, it’s called LuLu’s Sweets. If you want the most delish, authentic mondel bread, cookies and brownies you have to check out her adorable yet modern website. YUM, I digress…

I was first referred to Lauren last year by her fabulous Wedding/Event Coordinator Lindsey Schiff-Abrams of LRS Event Planning. I did the Make-up for Lauren and her mother for her Engagement Party. Lauren then booked me to apply Make-up for her Engagement Shoot (please see below) as well as her entire wedding weekend in June 2010. I will be taking care of Lauren, her Bridal Party and Family, SO fun!! She will be getting married at one of the most stunning hotels that is near and dear to my heart… The one and only Casa Del Mar on the beach in Santa Monica, California.

For now, more to come after the wedding, please enjoy a glimpse of this beautiful couple… Amazing and creative images from their Engagement Shoot, shot at the romantic and rustic Placerita Canyon in Santa Clarita by Lauren’s Photographer Meghan Aileen of Meghan Aileen Photography. Megan will be shooting Lauren’s wedding as well. I CAN’T WAIT!!

Get ready, cause this is a long one :)

I was referred to Emily by one of the MOST FABULOUS Fashion Stylist’s in LA, Laurie Graham. I am very fortunate to call Laurie a client and throughout the years has become a VERY dear friend. I apply Laurie’s Make-up for TV, Special Events, Personal Appearances, Fashion Shows, Professional Head-shots and more… She is on my website. Over the years, in addition to being Laurie’s Personal Make-up Artist, we have and continue to refer and share Clients. It’s smart really because whether someone is ready for a change, wanting to update their look because they feel dated or stuck in a rut and/or they’re going to a fabulous red carpet or special event, together Laurie and I take care of the Client form Head-to-toe. Client’s like to call us their “A Team”… We like to call ourselves the “We can’t wait to help boost your self inner/outer confidence and help you look and feel your most fabulous team”.

Ok… back to the very sweet, wonderful Emily! When Emily contacted me, she was concerned because she doesn’t wear Make-up and I could tell that she was very nervous. We spoke for a while, talked about her fears of  looking too made up and not looking like herself.  I know that is a concern of many MANY  Brides. I promised Emily that doing a Bridal Make-up Trial with me would ease her concerns and that the sooner we did the Trial the sooner her anxiety would go away and turn into excitement!! Emily agreed and explained to me that she understood that especially for a wedding, when you’re spending the money for an amazing dress, professional Photographer, a beautiful venue, lovely flowers and all of the other important details… It is MOST important that your Make-up is PROFESSIONALLY applied so that it looks just as beautiful in person, as it does in the photos, and in addition it lasts throughout the event.

When we did Emily’s Bridal Make-up Trial, she was blown away that her Make-up looked so natural, modern and put together. She looked and felt beautiful :) On her eyes I used Laura Mercier shadows in taupes, sables and then highlighted the brow and cheek bones with a creamy ivory shimmer. In addition I applied a tight line of Bobbi Brown’s Sepia Gel Ink Eyeliner above her lash line… I use this on myself all of the time!! For Emily’s lovely face, I used one of my favorite products ever (it  photographs so beautifully) Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, and then used neutral tawny blush on her cheeks with a “pop” of sheer pink both by Bobbi Brown. I finished Emily’s look with a pinky brown glossy lip using Shu Uemura 938 Rouge Unlimited Lip Color, Nars Chihuahua Gloss and Lise Watier Nude Lip Pencil. One of the biggest changes Emily noticed was how big and beautiful her eyes looked by my adding a couple individual false eyelashes to each eye… As for the day of the wedding, I had the pleasure of doing Make-up for her LOVELY mother and some of her Bridal Party. It was very rewarding and special for me to be a part of Emily’s wedding. Recently, after Emily’s BIG day, I worked with Emily and her mother again doing a Make-up Organization and Make-up Lessons for both of them, SO FUN!!!

Of course I have to mention some of the wonderful Vendors that helped make this a special day to remember for Emily and thank you to Bella Pictures for sharing your images!!

How fun that Karolyn and I met while she was working in the same Law Firm as my husband, then fast forward like 10 years and I am the lucky one who got to help her look extra fabulous for her BIG day… how cool is that??

Karolyn and I share a passion for sexy, smoky eye make-up, however because she usually wears very little make-up I had to take that in consideration when deciding on what look I was going to create and “WOW” her with. When Karolyn and I met for her Bridal Make-up Trial, we decided not too glam, but more modern, feminine and fresh with a little stronger focus on the eye. With that said, I decided to create a soft, chocolate smoky eye with a bit of subtle golden shimmer (Eye shadows by Smashbox and Bobbi Brown) and contrasting it with black eyeliner (Bobbi Brown Black Gel Ink-one of my favorites!!). Some people may be surprised, but yes when you have brown eyes you can still wear brown eye shadows. The key is- don’t match you eye color to the eye shadow and use a darker eye liner to give some contrast therefore bringing out and enhancing the eyes. Because Karloyn has flawless golden skin, I uesd pinky/peach tones for both her blush (Shu Uemura Glow On P 47 and  M 30) and lip color (Bobbi Brown Nectar Creamy Lip Color, Nars Stolen Kisses Lip Gloss with Lise Watier Ginger Lip Pencil) to balance the look so her skin-tone popped and she had a beautiful glow.

With a stunning ocean view, Karolyn got ready with her family and Bridal Party at the lovely Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. From her stylish chocolate brown sash and sexy chocolate brown open toe Christian Louboutin pumps, that both coordinated with her Bridesmaids dresses, Karolyn didn’t skip a beat!  She is amazing with details and pulled together a fabulous, memorable wedding. Her groom Frederik is from Denmark therefore they had a large wedding with guests attending from all over the world. One of the most important details, besides Karolyn wanting to look the most beautiful version of herself  (she knocked that out of the park- see the stunning images below) she really wanted her guests to party and celebrate all night long… oh, and they did!!  Some of the terrific Vendors that partnered in making this a celebration to remember were…

I LOVE Lili Bridals!!

There are so many reasons to LOVE the fabulous, family owned wedding boutique (opened 52 years ago) and consistently voted “Best Bridal Salon” in Los Angeles… the one and only Lili Bridals!!  They are fashion forward and offer beautiful options for both bridal and special event gowns as well as mother-of-the bride and bridal party dresses.  The owner Lisa Litt is a total gem whose warmth and passion for taking care of her clients is her number one priority.  She is especially known for offering an amazing selection for the savvy, stylish, modern bride as well as having a lovely, patient staff. These keys to success are what has and continues to be what makes Lili’s extremely popular and successful!!  I have been fortunate to do Make-up for Lisa, as well as the Make-up for many of the Brides that shop at Lili’s over the years.

Keeping up with the important things in life, especially being aware and taking care of the environment, Lili’s has teamed up with Toronto based, Eco-friendly wedding gown designer, Adele Wechsler and the Sea Shepherd Society to Help Save the Whales. If you are looking for an Eco-friendly wedding gown and would also like to help the resurrection of the “Ady Gil” a 78 foot wave-piercing anti-whaling powerboat that was involved in a collision at sea, you must check out the latest collection of Adele Wechsler ’s gowns at her Trunk Show at Lili Bridals. The Trunk Show is February 5th, 6th and 7th. Besides finding the dress of your dreams, Lisa will be generously donating 5% of every dress sold, to the resurrection of the powerboat. For questions or to book an appointment, call 818-774-9700.  They are located at 18663 Ventura Blvd in Tarzana. Happy shopping!!!

In my eyes, Beauty Make-up should ALWAYS be about enhancing. Every time I meet with a new client, I am always taken back by their uniquely beautiful features which I always try to enhance vs. cover-up or change. When I met Nital for her Bridal Make-up Trial I was blown away by her perfect, glowing skin and a smile that can light up a room. It was especially fun working with her because she was comfortable wearing a little more color.  Take note ladies… it’s possible to use color while still maintaining a natural look! With her golden skin-tone, Nital can just about wear any color, lucky girl! For her BIG day I chose deep warm chocolates on her eyes, a neutral plummy tone “popped” on her cheeks and a warm raisin glossy tone on her lips. Nital’s style is very modern, elegant and tasteful.  She had the perfect combination of an Indian and Western wedding. Thanks to Beautiful Day Photography, you can see by the stunning and colorful images below:

If you would like to see more details and photos from Nital’s wedding, check out the fabulous post on the Maharani Weddings blog!!

One of the greatest Networking Organizations I ever joined was Ladies Who Launch, I was a member for 4 years.  Ladies Who Launch helped motivate me to take chances and start my own business. I am also extremely grateful for the personal and professional relationships I have formed with all of the savvy women business owners I’ve met through through the Organization.  One of those terrific women business owners I met was Julie Jones, owner of Encore Bridal, an upscale e-Boutique that offers a fabulous selection of new, sample and nearly-new couture dresses from today’s most sought after designers. They are located in Manhattan Beach, California. Julie, like myself, goes to ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) meetings and it was at one of their fabulous events that she had asked me to be one of her Featured Guests at her Bridal Salon’s “Style Sundays”. HOW FUN!!!… Of course I said yes :)

As the brides-to-be came into the salon that Sunday, I had the pleasure of doing mini make-up consultations/applications on all of the lovely ladies. ”Style Sundays” are held the 2nd and last Sundays of every month from 11am-4pm.   Below are some images taken from that fun day…

Kelley and Mitch’s Wedding

Kelley is SO photogenic!! She has such an elegance and regal look to her and those eyes… WOW!  With or without make-up, Kelley’s eyes sparkle. She like myself, loves sexy, smoky, dramatic eyes balanced out with perfect glowing skin and a neutral glossy lip. A lot of women are intimidated by “dramatic” eyes, however that is definitely a look that everyone can wear, the look just has to altered for every women because of their eye shape, eye color and skin tone. Also, be careful not to use a heavy hand when applying and use the correct brushes (Shu Uemura are my favorite) to apply the shadow, not your fingers because you will need to blend so you don’t have a strong line of where the shadow stops. With blue eyes like Kelley’s, the best colors to use that come in a variety of shades are: plums, greys, black, deep navy, stone, silver, purples… basically cool tones. I loved doing Make-up for Kelley and her Bridal Party. Everyone was so down to earth, warm and fun!! You can definitely tell that from the great images below, thanks to the absolutely amazing team of Beautiful Day Photography.

Summer’s Engagement Shoot

I am a big fan of ISES (International Society of Event Specialists) and ABC (Associations of Bridal Consultants)Events.  I attend their Special Events about  once a month and have Showcased my company, doing the Make-up for Bridal Fashion Shows for the Vendors involved as well.  I have met SO many genuine, wonderful, talented Vendors at these events, many of whom I work with on Weddings and Special Events often.  I had the pleasure of meeting Summer, who is with the fine dining catering company Patina Group, about 1 1/2 years ago.  We connected right away and have continued to stay in touch as well as see each other at different events over the years. When we  ran into one another at a wine tasting event in the Summer of 2009 at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica and I met her, at the time wonderful boyfriend, now fiance. Summer said that she thought that she’d to be engaged soon and knew that when that day comes, she would love for me to do her Make-up for her wedding.  Well,  that day finally came! She is getting married in Sonoma, in Northern California at a winery in July 2010 and  I can’t wait!!  Below you will see some of the adorable and loving images from their Engagement Shoot, courtesy of the dynamite Laura Grier of Beautiful Day Photography.  The shoot was done at one of my favorites, The STUNNING London Hotel in West Hollywood, California as well as different areas on the beach in Venice and Santa Monica, California.
